Health Fair Friday in Poteau

Area residents can find a roomful of advice and information, as well as several freebies, at the LeFlore County Health Fair.

Free flu shots, blood screenings, weather radios and CPR lessons will be offered.

The event is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday [Sept. 15, 2017] at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Center and is sponsored by the LeFlore County Health Department and several other agencies.

Free screening will include blood sugar, blood pressure and cholesterol. CPR lessons will take only 10 minutes, according to the health department. Free smoke detectors will be available to qualifying individuals.

The event will feature more than 35 tables and 20 local agencies.

Free information will be available on such topics as family emergency preparedness planning, veterans services, hospice care, physical therapy, foster care enrollment, tobacco cessation, prescription drug abuse, opioid abuse awareness, breast cancer awareness, blood drives and more.

The event also marks September as National Preparedness Month.
