To stand or not to stand?

A number of athletes are currently choosing to take a knee or not stand up for the National Anthem at sporting events.

The reasoning behind this is similar to the one Mohamed Ali gave for refusing the draft in Vietnam. Why support a country that hasn't supported me and people who look like me?

One step further, protesters are saying, "Why support a country who actively murders people like me, while I see no justice being served?

“I am not looking for approval. I have to stand up for people that are oppressed. ... If they take football away, my endorsements from me, I know that I stood up for what is right,” said Colin Kaepernick, one such athlete.

Some standing in solidarity with protesters say many people don't stand for the anthem in their own home and that many people complain about forms of violent protest on this issue. Now, they claim, many people are complaining about silent protest that generates conversation.

Do you agree with this type of protest? If not, what kind of protest do you want to see and how do you think the issue can be resolved?
