An online account has been set up to honor the memory of former Poteau resident Kelsey Brigance, who drowned Sunday in a boating accident in Seattle.
The 25-year-old was the daughter of Mark and Misty Brigance of Poteau.
She was a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and staying with friends in Seattle while she looked for work, according to her father.
Friends have set up an account at www.gofundme.com/kelseybrigance, with proceeds to go to her parents.
The 25-year-old was staying with friends in Seattle while she looked for work, her father told The Seattle Times .
According to the Times article, Brigance was on a 21-foot catamaran on Lake Washington with two friends when choppy waves and high winds caused the boat to capsize. The police department’s Harbor Patrol had already rescued one person from the water earlier the same day, police said. The two friends were safe but Brigance apparently became entangled below the craft.
