Kerr Mansion yard sale slated Saturday

Staff Writer

The Kerr Mansion yard sale will be held at 7 a.m. Saturday at the mansion.

Furniture and supplies purchased by the Friends of Kerr mansion will be sold to raise funds to retire all debts incurred by the group during its tenure as caretakers of the Kerr Mansion.

Photos of some of the items for sale can be viewed at Several additional items of furniture, including bedroom furniture and mattress and box springs sets, are not pictured on the website.

The Friends of Kerr Mansion was formed in 2014 under the leadership of Kenneth Corn, a former state representative and state senator.

He has served as the chairperson since its inception. Other current officers include Vice Chair Nina Ritchie of Poteau, Secretary Dr. Annette Smithson of Sallisaw, Treasurer Jeanne Harris of Hodgen and historian Cathy Lovell of Wilburton. Other members of the group are former state Rep. Neil Brannon, Bob Lowrey and Marie Cravens. Past board members include Dr. Jim Horn, Tony Riley, James Britton, Betty Ford, Brooke Evans and Charley Wilson. Many other local volunteers gave of their time, money and talents to support the effort.

The Friends encourage everyone to visit the Kerr Mansion Saturday as the mansion will probably be permanently closed after that date.
