Preregistration for the Cavanal Killer 8k Walk/Run ends April 20.

You must register before the deadline to be guaranteed a T-shirt. Early-bird registration is $25 and the price will bump up to $30 after April 20. Registration includes a T-shirt, a light lunch and a completion medal once you reach the top of Cavanal.

The 8k will consist of five miles, an incline of 1,500 feet with an 8 percent average grade and 14 percent in some sections.

The run will be held May 14 with day-of-event registration at 8 a.m. and the 8k beginning at 9 a.m. at the Poteau Primary School on 407 Hughes Drive.

No trophies will be given except for participation medals to run finishers. The event will be chip timed and registration fees are non-refundable, although registration can be transferred to another runner.

Event organizers suggest participants wear comfortable shoes and clothing. Water will be provided at stations along the path, but you are encouraged to bring her own.

Buses will transport walkers and runners back down from Cavanal to the elementary school, and participants are asked not to drive personal vehicles to the top of Cavanal or ask for personal transportation down.

Packets can be picked up during the day at the Donald W. Reynolds Center from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from May 11-13 prior to the run.
