Grand jury petition has 744 signatures
"Petitions were filed in District Court Monday asking that a grand jury be called to investigate the disappearance of almost 300 pounds of marijuana from the county courthouse more than two years ago."

School scolded; expelled girls exonerated
"Two Wister High School girls booted out of school on charges they brought liquor into a school dance have been cleared by Judge Bill Welch of Wilburton. The Judge ordered records of the girls' expulsion be expunged and that the proper grades be restored."

Escapee caught early in flight
"A 22-year-old Quachita Correctional Center inmate at Hodgen Monday was charged with escape from a penal institution, according to Dist. Atty Don Sullivan."

Sheriff harvests marijuana plants
"About 263 marijuana plants, harvested from a field about three miles west of Spiro, were destroyed Monday afternoon, Sheriff Ray Kirkland reported. Kirkland said the department ripped up the plants in a field, located about a half mile west of Sunset Corner, about noon Monday."
