Teen killed in Sunday night collision near Leflore

An 18-year-old Heavener man was killed in a head-on collision Sunday night on a county road east of Leflore, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Christopher Raymond was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck by LeFlore County EMS. The collision occurred about 8:15 p.m. on County Road 1 a mile west of U.S. 271, three miles east of Leflore, Trooper Josh Blake reported.

Two 16-year-old passengers in Raymond's 1991 Chevrolet pickup and the driver of the other vehicle, Jack Pruitt, 41, of Omaha, Texas, also were injured.

Pruitt was taken by Leflore County EMS to Mercy Hospital Fort Smith, Ark., where he was listed in stable condition with internal injuries.

One of Raymond's passengers, a teen from Wister, was taken to Eastern Oklahoma Medical Center and treated and released with an arm injury. The other teen, from Heavener, was flown by Tulsa Life Flight to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, and was listed in stable condition with a head injury. The juvenile from Heavener was the only person in the crash not wearing a seatbelt.

Blake said Raymond's pickup went crossed the center line and struck Pruitt's 2000 Ford pickup head-on.

Also assisting at the scene were Troopers Fernando Cardenas and Ryan Williams and Leflore and Summerfield fire departments.
